Welcome to my site! If you’re a fan of mine from of old, you may remember how I streamlined this website by partitioning my m/m romance, cozy mystery and SF/F books on separate websites under different pen-names.
Well, that was a lot of trouble. I could not keep up with social media for three separate pen-names, and after ten years of trying, I still wasn’t writing enough books of any sort to make it worth the while.
Then I fell into a major case of writer’s block over the past five years, when I couldn’t bring myself to even touch writing of any sort. This website fell into disrepair. I’m sure the others did too.
I have a lot of fixing to do to bring even one website back into reliable use. So I’m going to go with this one, and I’m afraid that means my cozy mystery and sci-fi/fantasy are coming back here to stay.
On the side of good news, I am now writing again. Small but steady progress on a cozy mystery set aboard a narrowboat.

About
I was born in Northern Ireland, but during the Troubles my family moved to England, and I grew up in the wild countryside of the English Peak District. I studied English and Philosophy before accepting employment with the Lord Chancellor’s Department where I worked for a number of years. Now a full time author, I live with my husband and two children in a little village near Cambridge and try to never grow to take the beautiful countryside or amazing view for granted.
Asexual, agender and mother of a transgender son, I still feel like my place in the LGBTQ+ community is perhaps peripheral. But it’s very important to me nevertheless.
I’m only intermittently present in the real world. I have lead a Saxon shield wall into battle, I have morris danced all across the country, but recently I’ve been struggling with fibromyalgia, and the experience of being physically disabled has been reshaping my world. It is an all encompassing experience!
I tend to write somewhere in the intersection between queer romance, science fiction/fantasy and cozyish mystery – that is, my main characters are typically gay, bisexual, transgender, pansexual or asexual, and my genres will be somewhere in that venn diagram. (Historical romance, historical fantasy, historical fantasy mystery romance, fantasy romance, space opera – which as everyone knows is fantasy science fiction – fantasy mystery etc etc.)
My romances have always been on the milder side of the heat spectrum, but since I fully accepted my own asexuality they have mostly been fade to black. I always hated writing sex scenes and now I feel I shouldn’t have to.
I had various social media things but I never kept up with them, so if you desperately want to ask me a question I’m afraid it’ll have to be through my newsletter.
Though to be fair, I also only send out a newsletter when there is news – which has not been the case any time for the past five years.
